Amy is an accomplished and dynamic presenter with over 10 years experience in front of the camera. Since her first TV series at the age of 18 on ITV1, she has racked up over 2000 hours of Live TV and is a wiz with auto cue, talkback and adlibbing through sticky live situations!
Amy has worked with most of the major UK TV channels and currently presents the Lunchtime News for BBC Look North in Yorkshire. As a qualified Broadcast Journalist, she self produces and presents News buletins as well producing packages and reporting live for the daily news output. She also stands in for the flagship 6.30pm programme and Breakfast bulletins. Over the past 2 years Amy has fronted ambitious outside Broadcasts for Yorkshire including Children in Need for two consecutive years, Leeds/ Reading festival and Frankenstein's Wedding- live at Leeds which also broadcast on BBC3. In 2011, she was nominated for 'Most Promising Newcomer' for the North of England at the RTS Awards.
Amy is also a regular face on BBC3, presenting the live 60 seconds News bulletins between programmes. She also pops up now and again on the National BBC News Website presenting news updates.
Prior to working in News, Amy fronted Property and Lifestyle series"The Real" and "Around the World" for two over 2 years on SKY which involved jetting off around the Globe in search of property investments and meeting British expats who have left Blighty for warmer climates. "FYC" on SKY1 was an upbeat, sleek review show that saw Amy talk through the latest movies and Documentary releases on SKY. She also took on a Presenting role on ITV1 series ‘Rock Rivals’, a drama series with live inserts.
Despite a busy few years in front of the camera, Amy still managed to fit in an MA in TV Journalism (BJTC accredited) at Goldsmiths University of London and passed with Distinction even though she didn't have a first degree."It was a very stressful year and a shock! I hadn't written an essay since i was 16.. but that word 'Distinction' made it all worthwhile! The certificate hangs in my loo with pride"
In the Corporate sector Amy has worked at exhibitions delivering presentations for Global clients such as Sony, Canon, Volkswagon, Suzuki, BBC food show, MTV, SKY Sports and Levis. She also regularly fronts road shows, award evenings and Press launches. Amy is a peoples person and a natural at crowd pulling and audience interaction.
Amy is half Spanish and originally from Yorkshire. As a teenager she toured with a number of shows with the National Youth Music Theatre and after completing her A levels set out on her professional career in Entertainment. At 18 she became the youngest ever show singer to join P&O for a Millennium world cruise and travelled the globe in style for 6 month. She then ditched the sequins and moved to London for her first presenting role. Studio show 'S Club TV' on CITV was the start of 3 fun years in Children's TV. Outdoor activity show 'freestyle' followed on CBBC and a year presenting live 4 days a week on 'Studio Disney' for The Disney channel interviewing the latest bands, playing games and having lots of laughs! She also presented The Kids Awards at the Royal Albert Hall with her Disney Co hosts.
Amy loves travelling which has seen her diving with sharks in the Caribbean, sliding down waterfalls in the rain forest, swimming with dolphins in the South pacific and riding a horse bare back through the lost city in Petra. She has also spent time in the rural village of Kisumo in Kenya working with local children sponsored by African connection charity which was set up by her mum 6 years ago. Funds are raised in the small village of Sandal in Yorkshire and supports over 60 Children in Kisumo.
Amy speaks spanish and her hobbies include skiing, diving, cooking, keep fit and shopping. She also has an eye for interior design after growing up surrounded by fabric swatches from the family’s soft furnishings business.
Amy is someone who clearly loves her job. Her enthusiasm, professionalism and capability is reflected in her track record of quality work. Her motto for life is ‘I want to cram it all in now as I might not make 60!’.
